WOLFSCASTLE Community Primary School has been ranked among the best in Wales.
The Western Mail launched its comprehensive guide to state-funded primary schools on January 14, rating schools using 21 different government-approved measures, put together from the latest public records.
The measures looked at the school's academic results, finances, teaching, progress and attendance, as well as how they fared in the Welsh Government’s flagship foundation phase.
The ranking system aims provide parents with a better idea of which schools are the best to send their child to.
Wolfscastle was the only Pembrokeshire primary school making the top 20, ranking 4th out of 1255 in Wales. It scored 90.16 points out of a possible 100.
It also gained five stars in foundation phase, key stage two, attendance, finance and staffing.
The nearest rival in the county was Ysgol Clydau in Tegryn, which came 23rd.
Wolfscastle is a Welsh-medium primary school that caters for 36 pupils, aged 3 to 11. The headteacher Wendy Raymond said she was delighted with the result.
She said: “It’s a true community school in every sense, with a very strong sense of family.
“Our vision is for every pupil and teacher to reach their full potential.”
