Emergency services have stood down a search following earlier reports of a potential plane crash off Fishguard this evening (Wednesday)
A major air and sea search was launched taking after reports of planes flying low and a loud bang being heard.
The incident was reported at about 7.15pm.
A rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor and RNLI lifeboats from Fishguard and St Davids were launched but were later stood down.
The MOD has said that the reports did not involve a military aircraft.
Milford Haven Coastguard said they did not believe there was anything in the area.
Inspector Amanda Diggins of Dyfed-Powys Police told the Western Telegraph that there was a military exercise in the area where the earlier reports of a potential plane crash was reported and emergency services responded in good faith to the reports.
Investigations revealed that all aircraft had returned to base and searches were stood down as a result.
