A PLANNING application to extend the Castle Quarry gypsy traveller site, Monkton, Pembroke, has been submitted by Pembrokeshire County Council Housing Commission.
The application is for permission to build three new caravan plots and washrooms on the site.
Each pitch covers a 260m2 and will provide space for a large mobile home and/or caravan(s), with access to washrooms and adequate parking space. The plots will each have a boundary wall with a gate.
The washrooms will be a single storey concrete block building, measuring 13metres 2inches.
Following an extraordinary meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council to discuss policies relating to gypsy travellers planning matters last September, members resolved to continue to search for potential sites.
A report prepared by Cardiff-based Capital Property and Infrastructure of Cardiff stated : “There is a shortage of gypsy traveller pitches within the county and this scheme will help to address this issue.
“There is also a particular need to extend this site as there is demand from the existing residents for additional pitches to enable the next generation to be established within the same community.”
