A SPECIAL couple from Eglwyswrw have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary by joining the fight against heart disease.
Aneurin and Phoebe Lewis marked the occasion in October with a party at Llwyngwair Manor, where family, friends and neighbours gave gifts in the form of donations to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru.
A total of £3,315 was raised for the “No Time to Wait Appeal,” where money is specifically spent to train more people in emergency life-support skills, and to place more defibrillators in locations across Wales.
The couple have three children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, all living locally.
Aneurin said: “Over 300 people joined us in the celebration, and we are extremely grateful to everyone who helped raise this substantial sum for such a worthy cause, and to make the day such a memorable one for us.”
