A crackdown on the sale of counterfeit goods in Pembrokeshire has led to police and trading standards officers making several swoops on homes and vehicles, the Western Telegraph can reveal.

Fake items - understood to include clothing and footwear bearing well-known brand names - and large sums of money have been seized in the raids.

Pembrokeshire County Council's trading standards team has been keeping an eye out for fake goods being sold via Facebook.

"This follows concern from local businesses at Facebook sites offering cheap goods," said a council spokesman.

"In the last few months and having obtained the necessary warrants, several private houses and vehicles in Pembrokeshire have been raided and counterfeit goods and large sums of money seized."

"We are unable to comment on individual cases as we would not want to jeopardise any possible future legal action."
