PEMBROKE Probus members enjoyed a fascinating talk on policing above the Lansker line by Rev Martin Spain at their first meeting of the new year.
Rev Spain explained to the audience that they were collectively known as the "down belows" and there was more to the differences than variations in the language spoken.
The thoughtful and humorous observations of Rev Spain about the development, and non-political nature of, the police service was much appreciated by the club members.
A vote of thanks was proposed by Ken MacCallum.
In other news, the club’s holiday festivities culminated in a successful Christmas draw and quiz night. More than 30 members were lucky winners of the draw prizes and the winning quiz team were the Out of Towners, comprised of Chris Langton, Dennis Hughes, and Mike and Wendy Davies.
