MORE THAN 70 family and friends of a Saundersfoot man who was seriously injured in an incident in the village have started the new year by raising money for the hospitals who are helping him on the road to recovery.

Rory Rogers, 26, has been a patient in the intensive care unit of Withybush Hospital since November 16th, when he was the victim of an assault. It is hoped that he will soon be transferred to the Neuro Rehab Unit at Neath Port Talbot Hospital.

Dressed as Red Indians, the group took part in Saundersfoot’s New Year’s Day Swim and raised over £3,000 for the two units.

“We felt that it would be good to do something positive,” said Rory’s partner, Stacey McKeown.

“The amount of love and support that Rory has received since November has been overwhelming and so many people want to be able to feel they can do something to help.

“I would just like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has donated money or given sponsorship.”

*Police are still appealing for further witnesses to the incident in Saundersfoot. A 22-year-old man is currently in custody awaiting Crown Court trial on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm.
