A FORMER Milford Haven man who sexually assaulted a young girl has been jailed for three years.
Roger Brian Wakefield, aged 43, admitted the offence and appeared before Judge Paul Thomas at Swansea crown court on Thursday to be sentenced.
Wakefield, formerly of Cutty Sark Drive, recently moved to Skewen, near Swansea.
Geraint Walters, prosecuting, said he had confessed to an adult friend what he had done but after being arrested he at first denied that anything had happened.
But on appearing in court he entered a plea of guilty.
Mr Walters said when police arrested Wakefield on different allegations they found he was in possession of a locknife with a four inch blade.
Wakefield admitted possessing a bladed article in a public place.
Stephen Rees, the barrister representing Wakefield, claimed he had been sexually abused himself when he was 14.
Judge Thomas said that because of that abuse Wakefield should have appreciated the psychological harm he would cause the girl by assaulting her.
Wakefield was ordered to register with the police as a sex offender until further notice.
