A man's body was discovered in a burnt out car following a fire on Newport mountain last week.
Emergency services were called to the incident in a remote area off the Ffordd Bedd Morris mountain road on Monday night, October 7, at 9.20pm.
Shocked locals were alarmed to witness a number of emergency service vehicles descending on the scene, and said forensic experts appeared to be carrying out a thorough inspection for several hours the following day.
Police have now confirmed a man’s body was found following the car fire, but say his death is not being treated as suspicious.
The man is not believed to be from the local area.
A police spokesman said: “Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm the body of a male was found in the vehicle and the death is being treated as unexplained. The Coroner has been informed.”
Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for information about the incident and is asking anyone with was in the area at the time or saw any activity to call 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
