THERE was more home success for Pembrokeshire in the Urdd Eisteddfod on Wednesday, with four first places and a number of other youngsters also reaching the main stage.
The final three in each category get to perform in the main pavillion on the maes before the results for first, second and third place are decided.
First to compete on the main stage at Cilwendeg, near Boncath, was Ffion Phillips of Ysgol y Preseli who took third place in the folk song solo for years 7-9.
Then Fenton School claimed first place in the competition for creative music groups involving youngsters with special educational needs.
Saxophonist Talfan Jenkins, of Ysgol y Preseli, claimed yet another win after success last year. He came first in woodwind solo for years 7-9.
Further success followed with Maenclochog taking second in the category for group recitation years six and under (Adran).
Ceindeg, Mared, Beca and Gwern, of Ysgol y Preseli claimed first for dialogue years 7-9.
The efforts of youngsters from Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Fishguard, were also rewarded with the school claiming first place for dramatic presentation years 7-9 (learners). They did not have to face the preliminary stages as no competition emerged on the day.
