Cllr Brian Hall used rather colourful language as he criticised Welsh Water for its lack of investment in local sewerage treatment works, in my village of Johnston.
According to reports in the WT, he made these comments as the Planning Committee at County Hall refused an application to build over 150 houses on land no more than about 30 yards from my own boundary.
Whilst its good to hear Cllr Hall back at his best, I guess I should be rejoicing that Welsh Water have not invested in the sewerage system for Johnston, especially as I had accepted in my mind that permission was likely to be granted.
I presume the refusal is now likely to see the field to remain undeveloped for a good few years now, especially in the current economic climate.
I would therefore like to THANK Welsh Water as it will mean that I will be able to enjoy the relative peace and quiet for probably the next 10 years. The birds and other wildlife in the trees and wildlife area, will also live to fight another day.
With the housing estate well underway down at Pond Marsh, I wish I could understand why so many new house need to be built in Johnston, at the same time. The school has been supposedly at the end of its life for a while and has no room to expand and the only new facility in recent times has been the opening of Cinammon Spice. This is our new Indian Restaurant and Takeaway. Th best thing to happen in the village for a long time.
