Weather forecasters are promising snow to return on Thursday and some newspapers are predicting that we are to have the worst winter for 50 years. Snow is likely to be around until February, they also advise.

The other day, the Scottish Transport Minister, Stewart Stevenson resigned, as he felt he had not done enough to prepare Scotland for the bad weather that recently struck and paralysed the country in many parts.

I remember the headline from the Western Telegraph in October "Salt Stockpiles Increased as Council Learns Lessons from Last Winter".

Pembrokeshire County Council has pledged to be better prepared for adverse weather. New measures taken included a 37% increase in the stockpile of salt. Apparently 5,400 tonnes were available at the time of the report.

Cllr Jamie Adams was quoted in the article and he is the Cabinet Member for Highways and Planning, at County Hall.

In the light of Stewart Stevenson's resignation, I am sure that Cllr Adams is praying morning, noon and night that the snow doesn't come, or if it does, it misses Pembrokeshire and that our salt supplies will last and that we have a mild winter.
