The recent announcement that tourism in Pembrokeshire is to benefit from a £4,242,500 is very welcoming. This money will help provide top-class, environmentally friendly facilities for people to enjoy the coast by foot or water as well experience water sports. Plaid’s Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones revealed that the One Wales Government will be investing a total of £17.5m on four projects all over Wales in an effort to improve visitors’ experience of Wales’ unique coastline.

The money for Pembrokeshire will go towards a Coastal Waters Centre which will provide improved facilities for visitors wishing to experience Pembrokeshire’s coastline by water. It will address issues of access and provide linkages between one attraction to the next, through new landing stages and improved facilities along popular points of the coastline. This centre will provide top class facilities to improve the visitor experience of Pembrokeshire’s outstanding coast and help showcase what the county has to offer. The initiative will also allow more people to enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of our coastline in a way that minimises environmental damage. This project will further promote tourism in the county and is a welcome boost to the industry during what are difficult times.
