I heard a person say on Radio 4 the other week that they would love to vote for David Cameron, but the more he opens his mouth, the more he puts him off.
A few weeks ago, David Cameron was promising austerity from a Conservative Government, if elected at the election due by early June, at the latest.
Today, David Cameron is promising that there won't be swingeing cuts to public expenditure in their first year of Government.
I am totally confused what he is saying, or even promising as it seems he doesn't know either. I presume he is back pedalling as private polling is telling him that the public dont want cuts to services. He has told us he intends to maintain NHS and overseas aid budgets at the present levels, which must mean swingeing cuts to defence, the police and any other government service.
The poll today showed that there's likely to be a hung Parliament, yet if Labour are that unpopular as Cameron and the Sun say it is, the Conservatives should surely be leading the polls, by miles.
Previous blogs I have written say that the Tories can only go down, whilst labour can only go up. Add in what happens to the Lib Dems, whether its up or down, in certainly shows that the next election is there for everyone to fight for.
When Thatcher came to power in 1979, she had a vision and charisma and was leading in the polls for a long time and it was no surprise she won.
However, Cameron does not seem to have a vision, as he keeps changing his mind. And does he have the charisma as Thatcher and Blair had in 1979 and 1997?
Roll on the election, to finally resolve the uncertainty.
