The BBC Wales website today identified 14 authorities in Wales that faces "severe weather" and that Pembrokeshire was to be one of the Councils to receive an emergency delivery today, of salt, from Runcorn, in Cheshire.
I was wondering if that was correct as the news the other day was suggesting that we had salt and grit in stock. But having Sky News on at 12 noon, their reporter at the Runcorn depot specifically named Pembrokeshire.
Its obviously been run down quite quickly, if we are now to receive an emergency delivery as we are identified as being in great need by the UK Government who has now taken control of where salt is to be sent to.
We must thank all the gritters and those do their utmost at all hours of the day, to ensure our main routes are kept open and I guess in an ideal world, all roads and pavements would be clear, but we are a large rural county and that would not be possible with all the routes there are.
It is the worst long spell of adverse weather conditions since 1981, which I remember well and we must all drive with due care and only go out if we really have to.
I have been feeding the birds in my garden and offered help to my neighbour. Thats all we can do, until the weather improves.
The Sky weather forecaster at 12.13pm has just suggested that warmer weather will be coming in from the Atlantic by the end of the coming week. Guess we will have to wait and see ...
