Problem? Babies are being born in Africa HIV+ Every minute of every day, a baby is born with HIV, passed on by his or her mother during pregnancy, labour or upon delivery.
Solution Drugs to prevent the mother-to-be passing on the HIV virus to the unborn feotus cost just 68pence and are widely available. Children born HIV+ have life expectancy of less than 2 years
Problem? To administer these drugs, pregnant women have to WALK up to 300 miles to a health centre - thats almost the equivalent of from Tenby to London - heavily pregnant with little if any food and no money
Solution Provide the health workers with off-road motorbikes so that the pregnant women can be visited at home to adminster these life saving drugs
Sounds simple doesn't it? It is! The simplest ideas are often the best
Our aim is to raise funds to buy suitable off-road bikes, to visit South Africa ourselves to setup and run in the bikes and check everything is OK before crating up for shipment probably into the dangerous area of Zimbabwe. Our fundraising will also fuel and maintain the bikes for at least a year before the 3 chosen charities take over the responsibility and cost
Problem? A lot of vehicles 4x4, lorries, vans donated to Africa are currently at the side of the road - broken down. The spares and mechanical knowledge to repair these vehicles are sadly missing so they get left and abandoned
Solution? Provide tough off-road motorbikes that are designed for the rigours of the job and easily maintained ...... then train the health workers that will use the bikes day-to-day to maintain the bikes themselves

EnduroAfrica have organised and run these annual rallies for 3 years now and have made such an impact into the problem that The Times Newspaper has adopted the effort as their chosen charity - supported by Bike Racing SuperStars like James Toseland and Valentino Rossi
