Three of Wales’ most sought-after tenors will be giving their debut performance at Rhosygilwen, near Cilgerran, on Saturday.
Rhys Merion, Aled Hall and Alun Rhys Jenkins will combine their powerful voices in a special programme to celebrate the St David’s weekend.
Rhys is probably best known for his award-winning album with Bryn Terfel and for his own superb repertoire of hymns and sacred songs. He sang most of the leading romantic tenor roles while on principal contract at English National Opera.
Aled, originally from Pencader, is a simply marvellous comedian with body and facial expression and a gift of timing that alone would earn him a good living as a straight actor.
Combined with a fine voice, he is able to deliver some of the most challenging roles in opera. He has previously presented for Radio Cymru.
Alun won the prestigious W. Towyn Roberts scholarship at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2004, and has sung professionally since then. In June 2006, he was one of the four finalists in the Young Welsh Singer competition and in 2005, joined the chorus of Welsh National Opera.
Tickets are £15 available from www.rhosygilwen.co.uk or call 01239 841387.
