An exhilarating fusion of fire, air, earth and water is the theme of the sensational new Holiday on Ice production, Spirit — presented by the world’s most visited ice show at Cardiff’s International Arena.
Celebrated artistic director Robin Cousins and choreographer Karen Kresge have co-produced a cultural extravaganza of inspirational ice skating, combining the natural beauty of the four elements with global traditions and modern rhythms.
A voyage from east to west, world-class ice skaters glide from sunrise to nightfall, recreating the ethnic splendour of Asian cultures, ancient mysticism of Stonehenge and tribal gatherings of Native American Indians.
Robin is head judge on Dancing on Ice, and is celebrating two-fold this February, with the 30th anniversary of his Olympic gold medal and Holiday on Ice returning to CIA, Cardiff, from February 9th to 14th.
Robin Cousins said: “Collaborating with long time friend and choreographer Karen Kresge has helped me bring a different feeling to this production of Holiday on Ice.
“We have a synergy that perfectly matches the ideas that bind the scenes of Spirit together. It’s lavish, ethereal and exciting —everything a good show should be.”
If you like watching ice skating on the TV, you’ll love the live, unique experience of Holiday On Ice, Spirit.
Visitors can feel the breeze in their faces as skaters soar past at an exhilarating speed to perform dramatic lifts. They will enjoy a truly interactive performance when the skaters move from the ice to the floor to dance around the audience, and be amazed as skaters tumble from the sky in amazing, airborne gymnastics.
The musical director, Maurice Luttikhuis, explores the nature of the human spirit with an emotional and passionate score, where the haunting melody of the Chinese warrior ice dance contrasts with the pulsing hip-hop beat of the urban street dance number. Holiday on Ice, Spirit offers a complete entertainment experience for all ages, with an international award-winning set, dramatic scene changes, creative lighting and a dazzling collection of more than 350 extravagant costumes. Holiday on Ice opens on February 9th and runs until the 14th. Tickets start at £17.50. Contact the box office on 029 2022 4488.
