LOVE on the ocean waves is at the heart of Cole Porter’s riotous musical comedy Anything Goes, which comes to the Torch Theatre on March 9.
Taking on this classic Broadway show will be the 60-strong cast of Milford Haven Amateur Operatic Society, who have been rehearsing since September.
Written in the 1930s, the story follows young Wall Street stock broker Billy Crocker (to be played by Aled Davies) as he attempts to woo the beautiful debutante Hope Harcourt (Zara Colley) out of the arms of her fiancé, bumbling fop Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Alex Jukes).
Entangled in their love triangle are brazen nightclub singer Reno Sweeney (Naomi Harrison), wannabe gangster Moonface Martin (Luke Broughton), and Hope’s pressurising mother Evangeline (Karen Barker).
Played out on board a luxury cruise liner, the show features toe-tapping classic such as ‘I get a kick out of you’, ‘Gypsy in me’ and ‘Friendship’, all accompanied by a live orchestra.
The production runs from March 9 until 14, at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven.
