THEATR Mwldan presents a unique evening of dance, drama and comedy on Friday, February 7.
Sequins on My Balcony is a one woman live tour featuring stand up comedienne and breast cancer survivor Yvette Cowles.
Written and performed by Yvette and directed by Peta Lily, the show takes the audience on a funny, touching and sometimes surreal journey beginning in France with her first sheepish shimmies, through medical mishaps, her mother’s misgivings and breast-free dating disasters to a life now spent pursuing her passion.
It celebrates the beauty of women, whatever their age, shape or size, and asks “can a woman with no breasts still believe in herself enough to continue to belly dance?"
Yvette was bitten by the belly dance bug many years ago, while teaching English in the south of France. However, it was only when she was diagnosed and treated for cancer for the first time in 1996 that she fully appreciated the healing power of dance. In spite of the cancer, sixteen years on, she is dancing more than ever.
The first half of the show features professional and award winning dancers from all over the UK, all of whom are performing free to help raise money for the charities.
The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12 (£9.50 concessions). They are available to book from Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, online at www.mwldan.co.uk, or via smart phone by visiting mwldan.ticketsolve.com/mobile
All proceeds go to Cardigan Cancer Care and other organisations helping people with cancer and with keeping fit enough to enjoy life.
