ONE of the biggest selling female comedians in the UK will make a return visit to the Torch Theatre this summer.

Pam Ayres has been a writer, broadcaster, and entertainer for almost 40 years since winning the talent show Opportunity Knocks in 1975, and she has become an audience favourite for her sharp perception of the comic detail of everyday life.

Her work is funny and approachable. It sounds simple, as though dashed off, but this is deceptive. Her hair-trigger timing, her eye for the detail of everyday life and for the absurdity therein, makes for an art that hides art.

Pam has sold millions of books, albums, CDs, and DVDs over the years, and she is still a regular on TV and Radio, on programmes such as Just A Minute, Ayres On The Air, Paul O’Grady, Countdown, and The One Show.

Her books of poetry have sold millions over the years, and many of her poems are in school textbooks around the world including China, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, South Africa, Ireland and Singapore.

Pam has toured Australia and New Zealand regularly over the past 35 years, the most recent tour being in 2011, and she is one of the few solo comediennes to have performed in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House.

Her show in Milford Haven on Friday, July 4 will be the first time she has appeared in Milford Haven since 2009, and follows the recent publication of her new book of poetry, You Made Me Late Again!
