Newport Memorial Hall is to host a special Remembrance Sunday performance of a play written to mark the centenary of the return of the Unknown Warrior, the unidentified World War One solider whose remains are buried at Westminster Abbey.
The Unknown Solider, written and performed by Ross Ericson, is a story of comradeship, betrayal and promises broken and kept following the carnage of World War One.
It tells the story of Jack, who stayed on when the guns fells silent, to search the battlefields for the boys that could not go home - for the dead and the missing, for both enemy and friend.
Among the rusty wire and unexploded bombs, he looks for something, for someone.
He has a promise to keep and debt to repay – and then comes a strange request from the generals.
The Unknown Soldier, a Memorial Sunday event with afternoon tea, is to take place at Newport Memorial Hall on Sunday, November 10, from 3pm.
Tickets cost £8 or £4 with concessions. For more information or to book, contact Newport Memorial Hall on 01239 821114.
