How would you like to have your very own canjo guitar for just £10? The catch is you have to build it yourself.
But in a special offer from Aberjazz, for £10 you will get all the pre-cut materials you need to make your own guitar, three strings, three tuning heads, the guitar neck (a broom handle) the body (a biscuit tin) and wine bottle neck slide, everything you need in fact for a three-stringed canjo acoustic guitar.
The man behind the workshop is Howlin’ Mat, not only an excellent musician and guitar builder, he is also a trained teacher (albeit in economics) and he will take you step by step through the process of turning these materials into your own unique instrument, because everyone of them will be different.
It does not matter if you are an accomplished musician or a total novice because Mat will teach the group a tune to play on their new guitar. The performance will then be recorded and posted onto the Aberjazz Facebook page and preserved forever for your grandchildren to enjoy.
The workshop will be limited to 20 participants, but there is no limit to those who want to come along and watch for nothing.
It will take place in the top room of Fishguard Rugby Club, also known as the Seagulls' Cove, at 11am on Monday August 26 (bank holiday Monday).
