A Pembroke Dock nurse who pleaded guilty to attempting to murder his ex-lover was struck off the Nursing and Midwifery council's register after the hearing into his fitness to practise today (Friday).

Kevin John Bull De'ath pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted murder at Swansea crown court last September.

He was sentenced to 11 years in prison by Judge Christopher Morton.

The charge he faced today read: "That you, on 12th September 2007, were convicted at the Swansea Crown Court of attempted murder; and on 24th October 2007 were sentenced to 11 years imprisonment.

"And in light of the above your fitness to practise is impaired, by reason of your conviction."

Bull De'ath broke into the home of his ex-partner Marion Powell using a blow torch and a chisel two days after she had ended their relationship.

Ms Powell woke in the early hours of July 17th to find Bull De'ath sitting on her bed holding a knife and shining a torch into her eyes.

He told her: "I have come to kill you. I can't live with you and I will certainly not live without you. So this is the end. You are dead."

Bull De'ath then stabbed her so many times the knife broke. At one stage she could feel the blade touch her bones and could hear blood "burbling" out.

In an exclusive interview with the Western Telegraph Ms Powell recalled how as she lay dying she prayed she would live for the sake of her sons and grandson. She lost nearly all of her blood and her lung collapsed three times.
