Pembrokeshire's Connie Fisher will tread the boards once more tonight, as her new show They're Playing Our Song opens at London's Menier Chocolate Factory.

The Hayscastle songbird shot to fame after winning the role of Maria Von Trapp in TV talent show How do you Solve a Problem Like Maria. This is only her second stage role since her award-winning run as everyone's favourite singing nun.

Since she finished in The Sound of Music last February Connie has not been resting on her laurels. She has been pushing her talent in another direction filming ITV drama Caught in a Trap, the true tale of an Elvis obsessed parking metre attendant who steals thousands of pounds to fuel her obsession.

In They're Playing Our Song Connie stars opposite TV impressionist Alistair McGowan.

The musical, which last appeared in the West End 28 years ago, is a semi autobiographical musical romance based on the relationship between composer Marvin Hamlisch and lyricist Carole Bayer Sager who both wrote the musical's score and libretto.

Connie plays the character based on Bayer Sager, the eccentric and lovable Sonia Walsk, a young lyricist who dresses in theatrical costumes and is a terrible time keeper.

Opposite her is McGowan as Vernon Gersch an award-winning composer and self-centered bachelor.

Each of the two main characters' feelings are represented by a three person Greek chorus.

They're Playing Our Song runs from tonight, July 25th, until September 28th at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
