The history and mystery of a little-known Pembrokeshire castle will be examined by Channel 4’s Time Team this weekend.
Last summer Tony Robinson and the Time Team visited Upton Castle, Cosheston, to dig into the castle’s lengthy past. The programme will be shown on Sunday on Channel 4 at 4.55pm.
Castle owner Prue Barlow said: “Tony Robinson and the Time Team archaeologists were able to confirm that the castle had been built at the beginning of the 13th century although it is still not known for whom.
“However, the small chapel adjacent to the castle also provided much interest and probably predates the castle by 100 years.”
Although the castle itself is not open to the public, 35 acres of listed historic gardens and the chapel are open daily from March 29th until the end of September.
Volunteers are required to help maintain the gardens.
Time Team Tours will also be held on Sundays in April and May, between 11am and 2pm at a cost of £4.
