Police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old man following an incident at Penycwm, near Newgale last night (Sunday).
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said it received the call at around 10pm and added: "More information will be released when available and appropriate."
Little Haven lifeboat was called to the scene at Pwll March, also known as Penycwm beach, along with Broad Haven and St Davids coasguard teams, where the 29-year-old was said to be in a serious condition.
St Davids RNLI all-weather lifeboat launched to assist and provide safety cover but returned to station when the decision was taken to evacuate the casualty by land.
RAF rescue helicopter 169 from Chivenor airlifted the casualty together with paramedics to Withybush Hospital, but he had died from his injuries.
