A motorist from Milford Haven made a quick decision when his car caught fire near the town's York Street last Wednesday evening (September 26th).
The driver pulled into the town’s fire station and alerted the firefighters on duty that he had a vehicle fire.
The crew responded immediately with a hose reel jet and quickly extinguished the fire which was confined to the engine compartment.
“While we are always prepared to deal with any incident at a moment’s notice, it’s not very often that we have to attend real incidents at the station yard,” said Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service Watch Manager Mel Stephens.
“The crew from Milford responded quickly and dealt with the fire efficiently.
“Our advice to occupants of motor vehicles which are involved in fire is to leave the vehicle as quickly as possible, retreat to a safe location and dial 999 or 112 to call the fire service.”
