A new boutique hotel could be built at Haverfordwest castle following the council's decision to sell the former Governor's House.
In June 2010 the county's former prison was advertised for sale and will now become part of the new development which includes a restaurant and gallery.
Cabinet members agreed to assist with the relocation of the town museum and the sale includes a requirement that appropriate public access to the Castle grounds was secured.
“This decision paves the way for the development of a high quality boutique hotel with restaurant and gallery,” said Councillor Rob Lewis, cabinet member for cultural services.
“This will be a much needed and prestigious development for the centre of our County town.”
