A local green group has come out in support of a large off-shore wind-farm that will be sited in the Bristol Channel about 16 kilometres south of the Pembrokeshire coast.
Details of the proposed 1500 megawatt Atlantic Array windfarm, which would generate enough electricity to power over one million homes, have been on display at Tenby and Pembroke Dock.
Pembrokeshire Friends of the Earth’s campaigner, Gordon James, said: “We are pleased to support the proposed Atlantic Array wind-farm, provided there are no unacceptable environmental impacts.
“This is just the sort of project that’s needed if we are to cut climate-changing emissions and benefit from the rapidly growing green economy.
“As evidence of climate change mounts, there is a greater need for large projects that can make significant reductions in emissions from energy use. And we hope every effort will be made to ensure that Pembrokeshire reaps economic benefits by supplying the project and by using local engineering expertise.”
