Plaid Cymru Preseli Pembrokeshire have announced today (Tuesday) that they have selected Rhys Sinnett as their prospective Assembly election candidate.
Rhys is a native of Milford Haven, where he lives with his wife and two children. He has been on the town council since 1998 and represents his home area of Milford West as a Pembrokeshire County Councillor.
Speaking after the selection meeting, chairman Paul Sambrook said; “We are delighted to have Rhys as our prospective candidate for 2011.He is a Pembrokeshire man through and through and we know that he will give his all to speak up for our county as a candidate and, hopefully, as an Assembly Member after the election.
“With this selection, make no mistake, Plaid Cymru will be fighting to win Preseli Pembrokeshire in 2011.”
Rhys Sinnett said; “I am extremely proud to have been selected by local members to represent them at the next Assembly election and I am also excited about the prospect of being able to fight Pembrokeshire’s corner throughout the campaign.
“Our county faces difficult times as the Conservative and Liberal Democrat Government in Westminster seeks to slash funding for public services and cuts the National Assembly’s block grant.
“My priorities will be to argue the case for real investment in green energy technologies and research and development in Pembrokeshire. I want to see new, skilled employment opportunities in our county, especially for young people. We shouldn’t tolerate a repeat of the 1980s and the talent drain that blighted my own generation.
“Alongside this, we will be fighting to protect vital jobs and services that provide support to young, old and vulnerable people in our communities and that will be under real threat in the next few years.
“More than anything, I want people to know that whether they live along the Cleddau estuary or to the north of the Preseli hills, Plaid will be on their side in the difficult times ahead.”
