SAUNDERSFOOT Harbour's next phase of developments in its £10m regeneration programme comes under the public spotlight today (Friday), tomorrow (Saturday) and next weekend.
Revised drawings for the proposals for a Tall Ship re-creation and the community hub of the Coal Office and Ocean Square will be on display in a consultation exhibition in the village.
Saundersfoot Harbour Commissioners are holding the exhibition to enable people not only to review the forthcoming work and the developments underway, but also to meet the harbour team.
The second phase of the scheme brings the destination a step closer to what is hoped will be 'the marine gateway to Wales'.
Work has already taken place to install a new slipway, sea wall and boat racking system and partially deck over the harbour sluice, and now the decking is to be tripled in size with the aim of it becoming a venue for community and national scale events.
The decking will also feature a fenced crabbing area and a building in the shape of a Tall Ship which will house a visitor and education centre, amongst other facilities.
Work is due to start later this year on the Marine Centre of Excellence on the end of the harbour, while planning permission for the Tall Ship building on the decking and the Coal Office and Ocean Square - on the site of the Barbecue building and gardens - is due to be submitted shortly.
Said Saundersfoot Harbour's chief executive, Mike Davies: "We have made several changes to the Coal Office and Ocean Square proposals following feedback from the public, and we want to let everyone who is interested see how we have revised our plans. We hope we will be giving people what they want, and certainly there is a huge amount of interest in the small start-up units that we have planned."
The exhibition will take place at Unit 3, Cambrian Terrace, Saundersfoot SA69 9ER today (Friday), tomorrow (Saturday) and on Saturday May 5, between 9.30am and 4pm each day.
