BLUESTONE National Park Resort has been named as the “Most Accessible Holiday Accommodation in Pembrokeshire.”

The resort was given the accolade by Pembrokeshire Access Group, an independent charity which aims to promote improved access to services and facilities for disabled people.

“At Bluestone we wanted our philosophy of free range fun to be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their age or abilities,” said Liz Weedon, Bluestone’s Head of Projects.

“Our Caldey Adapted lodges have been specially designed to assist people with disabilities. These lodges have wider doorways, a shower seat and handrails, and emergency pull cords.

“The lodges are semi-detached and single floor, with two bedrooms, wet-room and an open-plan lounge, kitchen, dining area and patio.

“Unlike other guests, those who are Blue Badge holders are able to park outside the lodges.”

The resort which opened in 2008, was designed and created with access for people of all abilities in mind.

Bluestone was ranked first ahead of Tenby’s Giltar Hotel, and Haverfordwest’s Premier Inn.

Pembrokeshire Access Group encourages councils, developers and businesses to subscribe to the social model of disability and the principles of inclusive design so that everyone, regardless of their ability, can enjoy the same facilities equally.
