FRESHWATER East’s beach became a source of art and an artwork itself on Saturday, May 23, as part of the third annual Art Out West event.
Art Out West showcases exhibitions of artists’ work in their homes, studios and galleries in Pembroke Dock, Pembroke and the Castlemartin Peninsula.
The event was launched at Castlemartin Community Cafe on Friday May 22 with a raffle of artists’ work, music from Shanty Le Hara and seasonal sharing boards by Cwtch Coffee.
It was followed by the free Beach Art Day at Freshwater East on Saturday, encouraging anyone to create artwork on the beach, complete with giant sand drawings, sculptural installations and music.
The open studios and exhibitions run until June 7, with an exciting range of work on display including paintings, linocuts, screen prints, photographs taken with a pinhole camera and ceramics and chainsaw whittled oak sculptures.
For more information and details of the 21 artists taking part at 14 venues please see www.facebook.com/ArtOutWest
