The death occurred on June 26th at Lynnefield Rest Home, Merlins Bridge, of Enid Mary Williams. She was 92. Enid was born and brought up in Haverford-west and, apart from two years studying at Swansea Training College, she lived in the town all her adult life.
She attended Prendergast School and Tasker’s High School. Having trained as a teacher, following her parents’ profession, she returned to teach in the county in Milford Haven, Hakin and Haverfordwest.
She was appointed headteacher of the newly-built Mount Airey Infants School in 1956, a position she held until her retirement in 1976. Enid was a stalwart of the guiding movement with more than 30 years service as a guider and Brownie guider and almost 20 years as a district commissioner. Her involvement with the Pembrokeshire Blind Association began at an early age when she helped with the envelope collections and teas in St Martin’s Hall. As the society developed, she became gifts secretary, a position she held up to ten years ago, when she became a vice-president of the society. Enid also loved to travel and visited many places in the UK and abroad. Enid was christened in St Martin’s Church in January 1916 and had a life-long association with the church. She worshipped there regularly, taught the Sunday school for many years and also produced the Bethlehem Tableau year after year. Enid’s involvement with the community and particularly with young people was publicly recognised. She was chosen as a recipient of the Royal Maundy money which was presented to her by the Queen at St David’s Cathedral in April 1982. Many friends, including large deputations from Mount Airey School and the Guiding Movement, were present, with members of her family, at her funeral in an overflowing St Martin’s Church and at Parc Gwyn on Wednesday, July 2nd.
Enid’s coffin was brought into St Martin’s on Tuesday, July 1st, when the bearers were Gerald Griffiths (cousin) and Elwyn Evans, Andrew Harvey and Simon Griffiths (close friends).
The brief service was officiated by the Venerable J. Harvey. The service in St Martin’s on Wednesday was officiated by Rev. Canon C. Bowen, the Ven J. Harvey and Rev. Canon J. Lean. Canon Lean gave the eulogy, the reading was by Sally Francis, headteacher of Mount Airey School, and Mrs A. Harvey was the organist. The Ven J. Harvey led the service at the crematorium. The bearers at both church and crematorium were Andrew Harvey, Simon Griffiths, William Silverstone and Ben Silverstone (close friends). The mourners were: Gerald and Jean Griffiths (cousin and wife) and Janet and Elwyn Evans, Molly Isherwood and Helen Silverstone (close friends).
Enid’s ashes were interred at St Martin’s on July 3rd.

Milford Haven
The funeral of Jayne Griffiths of 15 Bunkers Hill, Steynton, Milford Haven (formally of Bank House, Main Street, Goodwick) took place on Monday, July 7th at St Katharine’s Church, Milford Haven, followed by interment at Llanwnda cemetery, Goodwick.
Her minister Father John Davies conducted both services, attended by Rev Roger Griffiths at St Katharine’s.
The principal mourners were: Brian (husband); Timothy (son); Moira and Avril (sisters); John, Betty, Phyllis and Gladys (aunties and uncles); Mabel (mother-in-law); Mike, Edward, Derek and Susan, Martin, Marilyn and Sheila (brothers and sisters-in-law); Hannah, Emma, Nicholas, Matthew, Richard, Adrian, Rhys and Emyr (nephews and nieces), along with other relatives, friends, neighbours and colleagues too numerous to mention.
The bearers were Richard and Adrian Jenkins, Rhys and Emyr Griffiths (nephews).
There were family flowers only, with donations to the Paul Sartori Foundation. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons.

Milford Haven
The death occurred on June 27th of Alfred Glyn Allen, of Coombs Drive, Milford Haven, at Withybush hospital. He was 66.
Originally from Hook, he worked for Parry and Blockwell and Greens Motors in the car repair trade. When he retired he worked at the MOD depot in Milford Haven.
His interests included family holidays, his grandchildren and organising coach holidays, travelling in the UK and Europe.
The family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Phyllis (wife); John and Mandy (son and daughter-in-law); Alex (granddaughter); Damian Allen; Tommy Allen; Sally Hughes (aunt) (unable to attend); Morgan, Pat, William and Mary (cousins); Margaret, Maureen and Ruby (sisters-in-law) plus nephews and nieces and many friends.
The funeral service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, and was officiated by Canon John Davies.
The bearers were Damian Allen (grandson); Kevin Walker, Norman Morgan, Andrew Postelthwaite (good friends).
Donations in lieu for Macmillan Nurses and Ward 10, Withybush Hospital may be sent to Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.

Little Treffgarne
A large gathering of family and friends attended the funeral of Althea Wolsey, who died suddenly at her home, Whiteley’s, Little Treffgarne, on Sunday, June 29th with her husband Garnet and son Chris at her side. She was 81.
Born in Abersychan, she spent her childhood in Swansea and later obtained a degree in social services at Leicester University.
She worked in child care in Nottingham, the Isle of Wight, Cardiff and Swansea before marrying Garnet in 1954. They built a house in Wimerfield Avenue, Killay, where they brought up Anthony, Karen and Helen.
In 1965 they opened a shop at Penyfro, Dunvant, where Christopher was born. In 1970 they moved to Cwdu Farm, Tycroes, Ammanford, to start a new life as farmers. In 1984, they moved to Lammas Farm, Wolfscastle.
In 1994, Althea and Garnet developed an innovative cooling system, which they patented, and set up Frio UK Ltd to manufacture and market their units, which are sold in more than 40 countries. Althea was working five or six days a week up to her death. She also enjoyed gardening, her family and supporting the Ospreys Rugby team.
The family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Garnet (husband); Anthony and Penny, Chris and Rachel (sons and daughters-in-law); Karen and Peter, Helen and Simon (daughters and partners); Joanne and Richard (granddaughter and husband); Lianne, Dean and Frazer (granddaughter, partner and great grandson); Joline and Allan (granddaughter and partner); Ashleigh, Ben, Matthew, Thomas and Mark (grandsons); Phillip and Myfanwy (grandson and wife); Maureen (sister); Marion, Vivienne and Jim (sisters-in-law and brother-in-law); Patricia, Paul, Jane, Pam and Dave (nieces and families); Jackie, Gwion and Sam, Roy, May, Jock, Graham, plus others too numerous to mention.
Rev Geoffrey Eynon officiated at the funeral service and interment at Pen-y-bont Chapel. The bearers were Jonathan Thomas, Simon Rees, Richard Steadman, Peter Munn, Simon Heard, Dean Gregory and Allan Martin.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by William Lewis, Wolfscastle.

Lower St Clears
The death occurred on July 1st of Barbara Maureen Thomas, of Bridge Street, Lower St Clears, at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen after a brave fight against illness. She was 58.
Originally from St Clears, she trained with Barnados as an NNEB in Bristol and worked with adults with learning difficulties in Pembroke. She then trained as a psychiatric nurse and worked in Llanelli and Haverfordwest.
She took early retirement due to ill health in 2007 when she worked at Bro Cerwyn day hospital, Haverfordwest.
Her family were her main interests and she was a member of Stepaside Methodist Church and St Clears Choir. She also liked gardening.
The family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Sarah and Marc Pudsey (daughter and son-in-law); Julian Thomas (son); Lewys and Evan Pudsey, Rebecca Thomas (grandchildren); Mike and Eira John, Adge and Libby John (brothers and sister-in-law); Val and Adrian Evans (sister and brother-in-law); Caroline and David Llewellyn, Jenny and Richard Barfoot, Gareth John, Katie and Gareth Jeffery, Rhys John, Kirsty and Matthew, Marc Evans (nieces and nephews); Gordon John (father); Diana and Malcolm Bidmead, Fleur Evans, Tom Ellis, Tracey Patel, Sandra Snarski, Billy Prout, Mary Minifey, Roy and Kerry Minifey (cousins).
A large gathering attended the funeral at Stepaside Methodist Church and Parc Gwyn. The service was officiated by Rev Anthony Gregory and Rev Susan Maciver.
The bearers were John Ryan, Tony Mickey, Keith Thomas, Julian Thomas.
Donations in lieu of flowers for Childline, Barnados and NCH may be sent to Mike John, Ashleigh House, Begelly, Kilgetty.

Mr E. H. Watkins
Carew
The death occurred on June 29th at Withybush Hospital after a long stay of Ernest Harcourt Watkins, of Kesteven Court, Carew. He was 82.
Originally from Redberth and Carew, he was a builder’s labourer until his retirement and served in the army during the war in the Manchester regiment in Italy and Greece.
He enjoyed watching Carew play cricket, gardening and listening to male voice choirs. He also attended chapel regularly.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy Watkins, the family left to mourn are: Lynn and Helen Watkins (son and daughter-in-law); Lauren Watkins and Talia Merriman (granddaughters); Maud Hicks (sister); Anne, Hilary, Lynn (sisters-in-law); John (brother-in-law); Reg and Val, Mim and Ashley, Melvyn and Bronwen, Gerald and Jenny, Wendy and Aled, Paul and Sue, Paul and Virginia (nephews and nieces).
The funeral service was held at Carew Wesley Chapel followed by interment at Carew Newton cemetery. Rev Anthony Gregory officiated.
The bearers were Anthony Watkins, Bryan Hicks, Roger Scourfield and Dale Hare.
There were family flowers only with donations for Withybush Hospital League of Friends to E. C. Thomas and Son, Archways, Green Plains, Stepaside SA 67 8LT, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.
Mr L. Roland-Green
Neyland The death occurred at Withybush Hospital on July 1st of Leslie Roland-Green, of Fleming Way, Honeyborough, Neyland. He was 84.
Originally from Llandewi Rhydderch, he had a career in the Royal Airforce from the age of 16 to 51. He served in England, Iceland, Aden, Cyprus, Singapore, Malta and had six round the world trips to various embassies.
He enjoyed playing cricket and umpired for the RAF, and he loved reading, fishing, antiques and choirs. He was a member of the Bethesda Baptist church and sang with the All Island I. O. W. choir and many other choirs.
The family left to mourn are: Mavis Roland-Green (wife); Peter and James (sons); Saffron and Christine (daughters); Keith and Wynford (brothers); Shirley and Doreen (sisters).
The funeral service was held at Bethesda Baptist Church, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, and was officiated by Rev Steve Lee.

Mr W. E. Hallett
Cosheston
The death of William Edgar Hallett, of The Garth, Cosheston, occurred on July 1st. He was 67.
Originally from St Florence, he started his working days as a gardener at Elm Grove. He then worked on various farms and in the building trade before commencing work at the then Regent Oil refinery, later becoming a shift supervisor at Texaco. He retired 13 years ago due to ill health.
His interests were his family, fishing, shooting, beekeeping, gardening and his spaniel dogs. In his early youth he boxed for Saundersfoot Boxing Cub and he later became a member of Pembroke Amateur Boxing Club. He was also MC for Cosheston Whist Club, St Michael’s Church and Pembroke Whist Club. He regularly attended Pembroke RFC and when possible, Llanelli Scarlets rugby games.
Predeceased by his sister Phyllis, the family left to mourn were: Janet Hallett (wife); Lisa, Emlyn and Carwyn (daughter and sons); Harry, Rebecca and Kathryn (sons and daughters-in-law); Jack, Owen and Rhys (grandchildren); Trevor, Roger, Maureen, Darrell (brothers and sisters); Nancy Selby (mother-in-law) and other family members too numerous to mention.
The funeral service was held at St Michael’s and All Angel’s Church, Cosheston, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn. It was officiated by Rev David Reed.
The bearers were Carwyn and Emlyn Hallett (sons), John Hallet and John James (nephews), Harry Nottley (son-in-law) and Jack Nottley (grandson).
There were family flowers only, with donations for the British Heart Foundation and Breast Cancer Wales to Graham Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock, SA72 6UR.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son, Pembroke Dock.
