Miss J. Murrell
Narberth
The funeral took place recently of Jenny Murrell, of 4 Bentley Villas, Narberth, who died on May 24th at Withybush Hospital after a short but courageous fight against cancer during the last five months. She was 52.
The family left to mourn are: Rosemarie and George (sister and brother-in-law); Philip and Ann (brother and sister-in-law); Trevor Morris (uncle); Mavis Murrell (stepmother); plus nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, Gaynor, and close friends too numerous to mention.
A private service was held at Jenny's home, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth. Her ashes were later interred with her parents at Narberth Cemetery.
The bearers were Paul Vick, Bill McGowan, Rowland Davies and Chris O'Neil. Readings were given by Bill McGowan and Paul Vick. The services were officiated by Rev Elwyn John.
There were family flowers only, with donations for ward ten, Withybush Hospital, to Glynis O'Neil, Moorfield House, Moorfield Road, Narberth.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Ken Davies and Sons, Clynderwen.
Mrs M. G. P. Barker
Llawhaden (formerly Cardiff)
The funeral took place on June 3rd of Marie-Rose Gabrielle Paulette Barker (nee Pernet).
Aged 16, she and her younger sister Monique came for a holiday' to stay with their aunt after their mother's premature death. Their holiday became protracted by the outbreak of World War Two, by the end of which Marie-Rose had met and married Charles Digby Barker.
On his return from the forces they started their family and later moved to Newport, Gwent, where they ran a newsagent and tobacconists. After her husband's death 34 years ago she was employed at County Hall, Cardiff. She also moved back to the family home at Caerphilly where her aunt still resided. On her aunt's death she moved to Whitchurch where she continued to until her retirement at 65.
She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and after being in hospital from June October 2006, she became a resident at Castle View residential Home, Llawhaden.
The principal mourners were: Veronica and Roger, Monique and Charlotte (daughters and son-in-law); Dominique, Zoe and Kim, Marie-Anne and Paul, Jamie and Emily, Sian, Claire and Hywel, Philip (grandchildren, partners and husbands); Jade, Ebony, William, James and Frederick (great grandchildren); Michele and Jacques (niece and husband); Brenda, Ann and Janet and husbands (sisters-in-law).
The requiem mass was celebrated at St Teilo's RC Church, Whitchurch which Marie-Rose attended regularly until the onset of her illness.
The mass was officiated by Father Eddie O'Connell and was followed by cremation at Thornhill which was a week from her 85th birthday. Family, friends and carers then gathered at Caerphilly golf club, a place that played a significant part in her life.
There were close family flowers only with donations in lieu for the Alzheimer's Society, to D. J. Evans Forse and Co, Whitchurch Common, Cardiff, CF14 1DU, who also carried out the funeral arrangements.
Miss M. Rees
Pembroke Dock
Megan Rees, of Waterloo, Pembroke Dock, died at Withybush Hospital on May 15th, aged 87.
Originally from Pembroke Dock, she was a district nurse and her main interest was her family.
The family left to mourn and principal mourners were: Nancy Selby, Mary Woodward and Mabel Noakes (sisters) plus numerous nephews and nieces.
The funeral service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth and was officiated by Rev Thelma Barber. The bearers were Emlyn Hallett and John Jones.
There were family flowers only, but donations in lieu of flowers for Wales Air Ambulance and Angle Life Boat may be sent to Graham Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke, SA72 6UR.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son, Pembroke Dock.
Mr G. Williams
Mathry
Gomer Williams, of Mathry, died on May 24th.
He was born in Church House, Cwmdu, Crickho-well. He left school and worked on farms in the Brecon area and in 1960 he rented and later bought a farm at Waunnewydd, Cray.
Gomer and Ann were married in 1961 and had two children Sian and Huw. They farmed happily at Waunnewydd for 26 years until Treddiog Fawr, where he was tacking cattle, came up for sale.
The whole family moved to Pembrokeshire in 1986. Later they added neighbouring farms Trehale and Mabws Uchaf.
Gomer built up a herd of pedigree Limousin cattle and a flock of well bred Mule, Suffolk and Texel cross breeding ewes.
He was hard working and very proud of what he had achieved with his family. He made friends easily and enjoyed a good chat with neighbours and was always ready to support charitable events in the area.
The funeral service and burial was held at Blaenllyn Chapel on Saturday, May 31st.
The service was led by Rev G. Aled Jenkins and Rev Emlyn Jones and the organist was Jane Francis.
The chief mourners were: Ann (wife); Huw (son); Sian and Andrew (daughter and son-in-law); Daniel and Joshua (grandsons); Alice and Clifford (sister and brother-in-law); Mary and Glyn (sister and brother-in-law); David, Richard, Melanie, Tammy, Rick, Gwyn, Eva, Mervyn, Terry, Bronwen, Brian, Ron, Margaret, Vernon and Michael (nephews and nieces); Mair and Glyn, Gwyneth and John, Tegwen and Keith, Janet and Eirian; Susan and Wynne (sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law).
The bearers were Robert Richards, Alun Hughes, John Evans, Roger Chinn, Gerwyn Mathias and Robert Dixon.
There were family flowers with donations in lieu for ward ten, Withybush Hospital and Blaenllyn Chapel which may be sent to W. G. Bernard Mathias, 62 New Street, St Davids, SA62 6SU, who carried out the funeral arrangements.
Mr E. A. Warrell
Milford Haven
Edwin Arthur Ted' Warrell died on Sunday, June 8.
He was born in Kew on New Year's Day in 1924, the son of Henry, a Metropolitan policeman and Gwendoline, a tailoress, formerly of Hubberston.
Along with his older sister Betty, Ted spent his childhood in various parts of the London. At the outbreak of the second World War in 1939 he was evacuated and on completion of his secondary education became an engineering apprentice in the Naval Dockyard in Portsmouth.
The effects of the blitz in London resulted in the family moving to Hakin where close members of the family helped until accommodation was found.
Ted left Portsmouth opting to complete his apprenticeship among the engineering firms based on the then bustling Milford Docks. Towards the end of the war, having served as an active member of the Home Guard, Ted chose a career in the Merchant Navy.
He spent seven years in that service and travelled the world, often not returning home for periods of over two years. During this time he qualified to the position of second engineer and was aboard the first ship that brought grain to Hamburg in 1945.
Forced to leave the sea due to tuberculosis, he spent much time in the County Hospital, Haverfordwest and Talgath Sanatorium near Brecon. During this time he met his future wife Nursing Sister Florence (Florrie) Watts.
After a long convalescence, Ted obtained employment in the Royal Naval Armament Depot before becoming the manager of the Milford Haven Ice Company, where he began his formal involvement with the fishing industry which lasted for more than 30 years.
He ultimately became a director of the Ice Company, chairman of Southward Trawlers and was instrumental in the commissioning of the Fishermens' Memorial erected on the Rath.
Predeceased by his wife Florence, Ted leaves to mourn: David and Christine Warrell (son and daughter-in-law); Owen, Daniel, Thomas, Rhys, and Lloyd (grandsons) and Charis (granddaughter-in-law), together with his whole extended family.
Donations in lieu of floral tributes may be made to the Paul Sartori Foundation, 31 Haven Road, Haverfordwest.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven.
Mrs D. M. Williams
Fishguard
The death occurred of Doris Maria Williams of Smyth Street, Fishguard, on May 31st at Withybush Hospital. She was 97.
A native of Pencaer, she was the daughter of Gwyn and Ann Harries, of Fronhaul, where she was brought up with all her brothers and sisters.
She met and married her husband Daniel Morgan Williams and spent many years farming in the locality before moving to Fishguard in 1957.
She had been a member of St Mary's Church for many years.
She leaves to mourn: Peter and Sandy Williams (son and daughter-in-law) and Sarah and Peter (grandchildren).
The funeral, a private service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, was held on June 6th and her ashes were interred in the family grave at Rhos Y Ceirau, Pencaer.
The service was officiated by Rev Menna Brown.

Haverfordwest
The funeral took place recently of Leslie (Les) Skone James, of Barn Street, Haverfordwest, who died at Withybush hospital on May 24th. He was 77.
Originally from Haverfordwest, after leaving grammar school, he did national service in the army and then worked in Greens Motors.
He then spent most of his working life as a petrol pump engineer with pump maintenance.
His main interests were his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed sport, especially watching the Welsh rugby and football teams.
A large gathering of family and friends attended the funeral which was held at Parc Gwyn, Narberth, followed by interment with his parents at City Road Cemetery.
The family left to mourn and principal mourners are: Wendy and Stephen (daughter and son-in-law); Simon and Jenny (grandson and fiancee); Lauren and Kris (granddaughter and fiancee); Kay (partner); Barbara (sister-in-law); Janet (niece); Kay and John (niece and husband); Helen (niece); Sarah (niece). Unable to attend were Kathryn, Sian and Amy (nieces).
The service was officiated by Canon G. Gwyther and the bearers were Simon Williams (grandson); Kris Phillips (granddaughter's fiancee); Chris Pearce (friend) and Ken Banner (friend).
There were family flowers only with donations for ward three and ward ten trust fund, Withybush Hospital, to Mrs S. Hobson, 22 Winch Lane, Haverfordwest SA61 1SA.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland and Sons, Haverfordwest.
Mr J. H. Thompson
Fishguard
James Humphrey Thompson of 48 Heol Preseli, Fishguard, died at Withybush Hospital on Monday, April 14th.
Affectionately known as Jim, he was brought up in Marloes, and went away to sea at an early age. He saw active service in the Second World War while serving in the Merchant Navy. After finishing active service he then went on to join the Western Welsh Bus Company before joining Sealink at Fishguard where her remained until his retirement.
He was a member of the Royal British Legion, the Merchant Navy Association, and many other organisations. His main interests were Amateur Radio and Convoy Research (shipping).
Jim was received into the Church of the Holy Name, Fishguard on Monday 21st April prior to requiem mass on the Tuesday. The mass was celebrated by Monsignor Clyde Hughes Johnson, also present was the Reverend D. Carl Williams minister at Hermon Chapel, Fishguard. The Last Post was sounded by Luke Jenkins, and the Royal British Legion offered words of remembrance.
The bearers on the Monday evening were Peter Laugharne, Rob Griffiths, Nigel Laugharne and Reg Davies (nephews). The bearers on the Tuesday were Gwyn Jones, John Roberts, Ben Walters, Trevor Morris and Peter Laugharne (friends).
The principal mourners were: Lilla (wife), Eleanor and Peter, Joyce and Reg, Anthony and Debbie, Perry, Nigel and Julie, Susan and Martin, Wayne and Susan and families; Careen and Ben, Fiona and Rob, Nigel and Naomi (great-nieces, nephews and families); Eveline and Vince, Marloes (cousin); Rosilyn, Brenda, Rose and Douglas (close friends), together with other relatives, friends and neighbours too numerous to mention.
Unable to attend due to ill health were Anthony (nephew)and Phyllis and Ray (cousins in New Zealand).
There were family flowers only with donations if desired, for the coronary care unit, Withybush Hospital to Paul Jenkins and Sons, Feidr Castell, Fishguard who carried out the funeral arrangements.
