Two illegal immigrants working in a fast food business in Milford Haven were arrested last Wednesday.

Acting on intelligence, Border and Immigration Agency (BIA) officers carried out a pre-planned operation at two premises in the town.

Two Turkish failed asylum seekers were found trying to exit the rear of the premises and were then arrested.

By law, if asylum is rejected, claimants are expected to leave the UK voluntarily. But if this doesn't happen, the BIA takes steps to enforce removal.

A spokesman for the Wales and South West England office of the BIA said: "We are committed to rooting out people working illegally in Wales.

"Immigration officers are focusing on gathering hard intelligence and acting on it to ensure our laws are not abused.

"We have teams throughout the country who visit businesses to ensure they are not breaking the law. Our message to employers is simple - if you employ illegal workers you could be named and shamed and face criminal charges."

Employers who are unsure of the steps they need to take to ensure they don't employ illegal workers can visit www.employingmigrantsworkers.org.uk or call the BIA employers' helpline on 0845 010 6677.
